Activity Resource & map commissioned by South London Gallery.

South London Gallery commissioned me to design a new family garden trail that responds to the Orozco Garden. The garden was designed by artist Gabriel Orozco as a secret garden, a rambling and overgrown ‘urban ruin’ to be discovered and explored by the gallery’s visitors. I created a worksheet, to help children and young families, to interact with this unique space, and discover plants and nature up close, through 4 different activities.

A double sided A3 activity resource that folds down into an A4 booklet for easy carrying around the garden. The worksheet contains 4 activities and a map trail showing accessible access around the garden.
Activities included identifying types of safe plants in the garden, searching for bugs hidden in the brick sculptures, listening to your surroundings and lots of space for children to add their own plant drawings, notes and scribbles.

I approached the project like a collage and I began the work during a visit to the garden capturing photos, making sun prints, drawing and scanning funky leaves and sticks which you can find, curving and weaving, through the activity sheet!
