ALA Tianan is a fashion designer questioning the norms of fashion, deconstructing the cost, function, technique of a garment. Her capsule collection “Revalue” stands for de-capitalized fashion & taste, the mentality of reversing value, and the no waste ideology.

I designed a zine inspired by the brands collection ‘Revalue’ made from disposable materials: kitchen towel, toilet paper & expired plasters. With a photographer I arranged a photoshoot to get some original content for the zine taking both film and digital photos of some pieces from the collection. For the set we hung white lace from the ceiling as we wanted to create a backdrop that referenced the delicate and ornate texture of the clothing made from toilet roll and kitchen roll squares.

For the zine I wanted to bring focus to each unique garment and provided details about how they are made as the designers process is very interesting.

Alongside the zine I made two collage animations working with both digital and film images from the photoshoot as well close ups of the material prints. A cut-out logo remains central through out the animation to highlight the brands name.
